Stage 4 — School Readiness
School Readiness Classes for 4 to 6 Years
Reception Readiness & Big Confidence
Our final stage brings both sides of the brain together. Children arrive at reception and Key Stage 1 with strong memory strategies, confident reading and the composure to tackle something new without hesitation.

Once a week, one hour
A single weekly session designed to slot into family life, with over 20 short activities packed into every class.
Maximum 6 children
Small groups mean your child is genuinely seen every week, and your educator can adapt to them individually.
You learn alongside
One parent or guardian joins every class — precious bonding time, and the best way to learn the techniques yourself.
IQ and EQ together
Cognitive work always sits beside “Education of the Heart”, so kindness and confidence grow with capability.
The stage at a glance
What 4–6 years looks like at Shichida UK
Four to six year olds are ready to take ownership of their learning. Sessions build memory strategy, reading fluency, mental calculation and independent thinking, while keeping the pace and playfulness that made them love learning in the first place. Many families tell us the most visible change is not academic at all — it is self-belief.
Best for
Children preparing for or already in reception, and families who want to consolidate everything the earlier stages built. This is our final entry stage, as classes run to age six.
Your child will develop
- Reading fluency and comprehension
- Memory strategies and fast recall
- Mental arithmetic and reasoning
- Independent thinking
- Focus for longer tasks
- Clear self-expression
- Confidence and emotional maturity
Inside a session
How the hour unfolds
Advanced memory work
Linking, story and peg techniques let children hold long sequences with ease — a skill they carry straight into the classroom.
Reading and writing confidence
Fluency, comprehension and expression are developed together, so reading becomes a pleasure rather than a task.
Mental maths and reasoning
Speed calculation, logic problems and pattern work sharpen thinking and give children real confidence with numbers.
Independence and self-belief
Children present, explain and reflect on their own work, developing the quiet composure that teachers notice immediately.

And then at home
By this stage children take a real part in their own routine. We help you set up short, consistent home practice that your child leads — so good habits are already in place before school demands them.
Parent stories
Families whose children started at 4–6 years
“Shichida UK has been amazing for my kid. My daughter was able to read before she got to reception easily. Her imagination and creativity have been far better.”
“The child who does not sit in a place for longer than 5 min, sat down with utmost concentration for almost 30-40 minutes. His phonics, memory, recall and counting skills have definitely improved.”
“The programme provided an enriching cognitive development experience for my child. It contributed noticeably to enhancements in his concentration, memory retention, and overall executive functioning.”
